What a great experience and such good value for money. My wife and I used the Maynard as a base for a few days walking in early August and could not fault it for cleanliness, standard of food and such friendly service from the staff. We then returned the following week with another couple and, once again the whole experience was fantastic. A special mention to Wiktoria who was our waitress on the second visit, what a star she is, a credit to the hotel.

For me the test of a hotel is the staff. Here they were just fantastic. Helpful, welcoming and friendly despite being busy. Otherwise a great location for exploring the area, gorgeous garden and top notch food. Room OK but then we did book at 24 hrs notice so probably got what wax available.

From arrival to departure the service from the whole team at The Maynard was first class. Every question was a ‘Yes, no problem’. The service was excellent. The room was clean, comfortable and with a view that just made my heart sing. I will be back - again.

From the moment we arrived until we left the hotel staff were magnificent. The hotel is welcoming, arm and kept to its older roots while being modernised. Rooms were spacious, food was excellent and staff always charming. We had a standard room, a family room and the Sir Don Bradman room; all excellently appointed. Magnificent views from the Sir Don across the Grindleford valley. Would certainly repeat the weekend.

We had a family weekend at the Maynard age range 13 months to 77 years. My son was climbing in the Peak District and the rest of us were visiting local tourist spots and enjoying the outdoors. The hotel is excellent . Largely because each member of staff is very friendly,efficient and looking to go the extra mile to ensure everything is good. Small things like a last minute request for a packed lunch were quickly sorted. The rooms are very comfortable and the food is excellent . It’s a great place for a family to enjoy a relaxed time

Just had a one night stay to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary there is nothing I can say negative about our stay. The staff, the food , the room and the bar has a great selection of drinks everything was top class, we would definitely recommend it, we will return.

Great place to stay to explore area of the peak district, and if your not into walking nice place to relax, it has that old house charm, with new facilities like the lovely restaurant with excellent food, don't book elsewhere until you have tried the food here because its excellent. The staff are fantastic everyone makes you welcome, big thanks to Joe at breakfast! and the staff in the restaurant and bars who made our stay very welcome. It has a lovely outdoor area should you be lucky to get the weather. The less abled may find it hard up the stairs, i didn't see any lift but it may have other rooms on offer. I would highly recommend, and hope to be back soon.

We spent 2 nights in a junior suite in this lovely hotel. The room was great with amazing views of the Peak District and a free standing bath. The only negative is that I was expecting better bedding and quality towels to match with the room. Breakfast is in the restaurant and you can order one thing from the menu. I had the full English and the continental and both were very nice. We also had dinner there twice and the food was great. There are many lovely walks for the hotel, there is a leaflet in the room with 6 walks, we did 3 of them and really enjoyed them.
