Brew-tiful Coffee

Josh

Our Assistant Manager, Josh Butler started working for me in November 2016 as a food runner at The Farmhouse at Mackworth.  Through strong ambition, determination and hard work, Josh progressed through the ranks to waiter, supervisor, duty manager, staff trainer and up to assistant manager.  Josh jumped at the chance of leaving his home of Derby and moving to Grindleford as Assistant Manager for the opening of The Maynard.

Despite Josh's incredible customer service, his true love lies in coffee.  This is something that he is incredibly passionate about and wanted to espresso his passion in a blog to you.  We all want you to know how seriously we take this fantastic beverage.

What coffee beans to us

Here at The Maynard we pride ourselves in sourcing the best quality ingredients for our customers. We have thought long and hard about what we think our customers would like as well as how we can support local businesses around Grindleford the rest of the Peak District and Sheffield.

When it came to decide which coffee supplier we would use, Roastology was our first choice. A great company who are always improving and developing their brand to ensure fantastic tasting coffee.  Their beans are carefully sourced and roasted in their roastery in Sheffield.

Their mission statement “To consistently deliver exceptional ethically sourced products selected by taste and, sourced directly through long term relationships…” was very similar to what we hope to achieve here in the Peak District which is why we chose them.

Roastology mocha me very happy

Roastology provides a fantastic service in all aspects; from choosing the bespoke blend for ourselves, to staff training ensuring they know the steps of coffee production as well as how to deliver the perfect serve. This is key as operating the machine when making your specified drink must be done correctly to ensure the complex flavours are present as otherwise, it will not be a good coffee and no-one wants that!

We believe quality coffee is such an important part of a customer’s experience at a hotel. The reason for this is after coming down for breakfast in our divine restaurant, ordering a delicious latte or cappuccino, you know you have started your day correctly. A combination of citrus flavours, red berries and caramel chocolate ensure a long-lasting taste and another order. We believe putting time in to make sure your coffee is perfectly executed is much more important than just wanting that quick caffeine intake.

Furthermore, being as we are in the beautiful scenery of the Peak District, you’re never short of something to do. Whether you are wanting to explore Longshaw Estate or take a stroll along the tops of Mam Tor, a coffee alongside you will leave you in good stead.

We do hope that you come in for a handmade coffee.  Our bar is open from 8am everyday.  We look forward to seeing you very soon.
