Wow! What an August we had!
It was fabulous to meet new people and see a sea of familiar faces throughout August. The feedback to our delicious locally sourced menu has been so positive and we know you enjoyed enjoying more at The Maynard thanks to the Eat Ou to Help Out scheme.
We had a blindingly brilliant bank holiday with our gardens packed out and diners enjoying our selection of live music throughout the day.
As we move into the Autumnal months it’s time for us to reflect the produce of the season and work with our local suppliers to formulate our new menu.
We are delighted to announce our brand spanking new menu packed full of juicy autumnal dishes and distinctive winter warming flavours will be available for you to sample from Monday, September 28, 2020.
On our new menu will be the addition of two important themed evenings:
Wednesday Night is Grill Night
Every Wednesday evening join us at The Maynard for our grill night.
Working with The Ginger Butchers who will be selecting the freshest cuts of meat, we’ll be showcasing different grilled meats each week.
Sample various grill inspired dishes from the menu, matched with the perfect wines and locally brewed ales to bring out the irresistable flavours.
For the vegetarian and vegan diners, grill night will also include plant-based grill steaks and as ever, there will always be gluten-free options available.
Friday Night is Wine Night
As the Hattersley family has always revolved around wine, we couldn’t NOT have a wine night, could we?
Every week we will be putting some of the world’s best-kept family produced wines into the spotlight.
As a family, the Hattersley clan have enjoyed many trips to family-owned and operated vineyards across the world. We have developed some lasting friendships and business partnerships with a host of independent wine producers.
If you’re a wine lover – whether that be red, white or fizzy, get Fridays at The Maynard into your diaries and sample some rare and exciting wines each week.
We want you to #enjoymore so we’ve decided to offer two distinctly different afternoon tea options on our new menu:
CLASSIC AFTERNOON TEA
Our classic afternoon tea will see us serve up favourites including fresh sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam, lemon tart, sponge cake and our to-die-for pavlova with Chantilly cream and fresh berries.
Our classic afternoon tea is served with Joe’s Everso English organic tea and there’s an option to upgrade to a glass of sparkling wine to really set off this quintessential English experience.
GENTLEMAN’S AFTERNOON TEA
We will also be serving up an afternoon tea with a savoury twist. This isn’t necessarily reserved for gentlemen – open to all of course!
Our Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea will feature contemporary bite-sized treats including fish finger butties with tartare sauce, The Ginger Butcher pork pie with piccalilli, Scotch egg, mini Yorkshire pudding with roast beef and horseradish, indulgent chocolate brownie all served with the option of a locally brewed pint of ale or lager or a glass of sparkling wine.

Christmas and New Year at The Maynard
Being my first Christmas in Grindleford, I am looking forward to spending the festive season with you and welcoming you to The Maynard.
Join us for a mulled wine and mince pie by the fire, accompanied by great food and efficient service to celebrate this special time of year. Put up your feet and let us do the hard work.
We have put together a selection of packages to celebrate all things Christmas at The Maynard; eating, drinking and merriness.
Our festive menu starts at just £22.95 per person and will run from Friday, November 27, 2020, through to New Year.
Christmas Day is promised to be a festive extravaganza with a truly tantalising menu to make it a magical Christmas experience for all.
New Year’s Eve will be a sophisticated affair with fizz on arrival, a delicious five-course meal and live music until late.
Confirm your 3-course festive meal with a deposit prior to 31st October and we will offer you a glass of sparkling wine on arrival.
