For many of our two and four-legged regulars, our beloved pooch George, also known as ‘Lord of the Manor’, is a familiar face around The Maynard.
Whilst our floppy-eared best friend is remarkably adept at winning the hearts of our visitors, there’s also a new George in town to bid for your affections!

The George
That’s right, we’ve added another charming venue to our family of bars and restaurants.
Sitting in the very heart of Hathersage and presenting an open, welcoming atmosphere, The George offers a friendly, laid back experience, whether you visit for a bit of grub, your favourite tipple, or a restful snooze.
Much like The Maynard, which is only a ten-minute drive away, The George is a firm favourite among walkers and tourists alike, as it sits nestled among the rolling green hills of the Peak District.
As part of our plans to further establish The George as a well-loved part of the community and fully incorporate it into the Longbow Bars and Restaurants group, we have big ideas for its future, starting with a full refurbishment this summer.
A home away from home for locals and visitors, you’ll always find something to enjoy at The George, whether it’s freshly made, locally sourced food, a well-stocked bar or a comfortable bed.
