August update from Rob at The Maynard

I can’t quite believe I’m writing another monthly update again, but here we are at the end of the summer holidays already, and there’s so much to tell you (as usual)!

Our family grows again

I’m chuffed to bits to introduce you to Ben Mason, who joins the Longbow team as Group Brand & Marketing Manager.

Ben’s been thrown into the deep end, with having The Maynard and our new venue, The George to look after, but I’m pretty sure that his 12 years’ experience in hospitality marketing will mean that he’s bossing the role before too long!

I don’t think he was just saying this because I was listening, but I heard Ben saying he was “thoroughly excited to be on board and can’t wait to get started” … the feeling is mutual, Ben!

The C Word

No, not Covid! The other one… Christmas!

Yes, it’s approaching the time of year where we start getting prematurely excited about the big day and all the celebrations that come with it.

I for one can’t wait to have a proper Christmas again this year – I’m sure there will be many of you making up for last year!

I shan’t say too much as this stage, but just to let you know that we’re now taking bookings and our festive menu is available to view.

Say 'I Do' at The Maynard

Weddings are in full flow again at The Maynard and we are SO thrilled to be helping happy couples celebrate the best day of their lives.

Whether your previous plans had to be cancelled, or you’ve just recently popped the question, why not consider a cosy winter wedding in the countryside? We still have some availability left for late 2021 and we’re even offering to waiver the ceremony set-up fee for last minute bookings!

Find out more here, and arrange to visit with your beloved!

Gin of the month

At The Maynard, we’re known for our no-nonsense approach to food and drink, which is why we’re so fond of the classics – Gin & Tonic being a staple on our drinks menu.

This month, I’m keen to showcase a Gin that’s been created right on our doorstep. Named after the nearby Peak District wonder that is Mam Tor, Shivering Mountain Gin is flying off our shelves.

Available in both dry and pink varieties, locals and visitors alike can’t get enough!

Come and visit our bar and try it for yourself.

These paws were made for walking

With the recent weather being a little cooler than earlier in the summer, I’ve taken the opportunity to catch some fresh countryside air with my best bud, George. He’s been absolutely loving all our outdoor adventures and meeting new canine friends along the way.

Speaking of walks – we’re in the process of compiling a walking guide for visitors and need your help!

Have you been on a walk recently that’s blown you away? Don't keep it a secret! Tell us about the best walks around, share some of your photos and if you can provide a map with descriptions – even better!

We’ll choose the best ones to include in our walking guide and if your suggestion is used, you can have a bottle of wine on us!

Send your suggestions to ben@longbowbarsandrestaurants.com.

Until next time… stay safe and hopefully see you very soon!
