Rob’s Update Returns!
Hello everyone! Well, it has been quite a long time since I wrote one of these updates… things have simply been crazily busy here at Longbow (in a good way!).
Since I last wrote an update, we have won awards, we have navigated a brilliant Christmas period (despite the constant threats of closure due to a certain virus in the media!) and two refurbs at our venues. But this is of course, no excuse! I can only apologise, and promise to try much harder in future to bring you the insider view and all of the latest news and gossip from our fantastic venues! So, grovelling over, and without further ado… here we go!
Welcoming Weddings again
Weddings are back and in full flow at The Maynard! Fresh from winning multiple awards (I’m so, so proud of the whole team!), we are once again welcoming beautiful couple to share their special day with us.
We have recently once again refurbished our ballroom, including new fixtures and fittings and a complete refit of the bar – ensuring perfect weddings time and time again.
We are so excited for a summer packed full of these truly special days, it is so rewarding to see smiling couples, happy guests and fantastic reviews online in the following days.
We do have very limited space in 2022 and 2023 however, but make sure you jump in quick!…
Walking guides are coming
The return of the Lord Of The Manor – George! Here he is checking out one of the routes in our upcoming walking guides – packed full of beautiful routes from both The Maynard and The George to suit all abilities.
There will be some of our favourite well known walks, as well as some hidden gems in there too – taking in some of the best scenery the Peak District has to offer, guaranteeing a fantastic day out for both inexperienced and experienced hikers alike.
Containing maps and step-by-step guides, we can’t wait to see them. We’ll keep you posted as to when they arrive!

I’m sure some of you will recognise this guy… for those who don’t, this is Steve – he’s the Group Operations Manager for Longbow, my right-hand man, and an all round top person.
But more importantly… he has recently hit the big 30! I am sure you woke up with a sore head but in high spirits.
I’m sure you will join everyone here at Longbow in wishing Steve a very ‘happy birthday!

More amazing news! Our welcome host, Ciara, is leaving us. But she is leaving us only temporarily, and for the best and most exciting reasons possible – she’s going on maternity leave!
We absolutely can’t wait to welcome another member of the Longbow family into the world, and are all so happy for you both.
We all wish you the best of luck and all of the happiness in the world.
Employees Of The Month
We love to celebrate and reward the successes of our staff, and this month we have two very special people who have brought so much to their respective venues. First, we have Alina. Always smiling, she brings so much talent to the kitchen at The George. Well done, Alina!
Next, we have Jocelyn. She’s one of the happy faces you see as you first walk through the doors at The Maynard. Although relatively new to the business, she is well and truly now part of our family. Thank you for all of your hard work, Jocelyn!

Awards success
Finally, I’ve been told that I need to include this in my update – despite my wishes to remain humble!
Following some truly remarkable recent awards for Longbow, I was unbelievably proud and happy to accept the ‘Unsung Hero’ award at the recent Marketing Peak District & Derbyshire awards, in a fantastic awards ceremony at the fabulous Casa Hotel.
Just to be nominated in this category was such a humbling moment for me. To win was a shock but also a massive privilege.
I couldn’t have done it without each and every single member of my team. They are the ones who deserve the true recognition. Thank you.
