Two in a row!
Hello again, and welcome to another edition of Rob’s Monthly Update. I’d like to point out that this is my second monthly update in a row – that’s pretty much a winning streak! But I did promise to deliver my musings on a more regular basis and here I am – albeit just a tad behind schedule. Still, as The Nolan Sisters once said, “better late than never"!
Lots of exciting things have happened over the last month, and there’s bucket loads more fun to come. The sun is shining, and it feels more and more like beer garden weather with each day that passes – who doesn’t love that feeling?! So with that in mind, lets dive straight into it all!
Check out THAT Courtyard!
Have you visited The George recently? Part of the reason I’m currently feeling an awesome summer vibe is the stunning refurbishments that have taken place in the courtyard there. It looks simply fantastic!
Not only have we hugely increased capacity, I’m sure you’ll agree the whole look and feel of the area has been completely transformed. I really love the booth seating – the perfect place to relax with refreshing drinks and delicious food – and it gets the sunshine throughout most of the day. (although there are sheltered spots for shade lovers too!)
It’s a true hidden gem, away from the busy main road – the perfect place to relax in the sun with family and friends. The time just seems to fly by when chilling out there with a few drinks… I speak from experience! Give it a try the next time you’re in Hathersage, I’m certain you won’t be disappointed.
HAPPY AND GLORIOUS
It’s guaranteed to be one of the most exciting and fun days of the entire summer. I am of course talking about the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Party in our beautiful gardens at The Maynard on Friday 3rd June!
Our spacious gardens look proudly across England’s green and pleasant land, providing the perfect backdrop to celebrate the day in true British style.
There will be awesome live music from talented performers, a brass band playing patriotic favourites, outdoor bars serving deliciously refreshing drinks, face painters (for all of your Union Flag requirements!), gladiator jousting, sumo suits, bouncy castles (for the kids and for the adults too!), ice cream, barbecues… and much more. The whole family will undoubtedly be left feeling happy and glorious.
We are almost certain that the weather will be stunning – it’s for Her Majesty, after all – but we are British and it is programmed into us to plan for all conditions, even in June. We of course have contingency plans for any inclement weather… the show must go on!
So head on down and soak up the awesome atmosphere – it is certain to be one not to forget.

This is Greg. He is our fantastic head chef here at The Maynard. Remember to say hi if you see him around!
However, although Greg is awesome, he unfortunately can’t be in two places at once and cloning him simply isn’t an option. Therefore, we are looking for a head chef at The Maynard’s sister venue, The George in Hathersage.
It’s a great place to work with a superb atmosphere and a supremely talented team. What’s more, there are some great benefits, a salary of up to £42,000, free meals on shift, progression and development opportunities, and the chance to be a part of something really special.
