A Big Decision on Christmas Day
At The Maynard and The George, we are dedicated to always putting people before profits.
Last year, I’d got to the point in my own career whereby I could finally delegate and take Christmas Day off to spend with my family if I wanted to. That didn’t sit right with me. What about my staff enjoying their Christmas Day with family? Some of my team have never taken Christmas off. I know I hadn’t.
My grandmother died in 2022 and I thought back to all the opportunities missed to spend Christmas with her. I thought of my team with elderly parents or those with children and I decided that for one day, it was more important my team are with those they love.
So after discussing it with my senior team, we made the massive decision to close on Christmas Day at both The Maynard and The George.
A Christmas Eve to Remember
All is not lost for those of you who love to spend the festive period at The Maynard and The George.
In addition to our incredible festive menu that will run throughout December (excluding Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve), we've decided to let your senses take you on a nostalgic journey this Christmas Eve, accompanied by the fabulous Grumpah Band.
Join us at 12:30pm in the restaurant or 1:30pm in the Chatsworth Suite for a decadent 5-course menu that will set the scene and the festive spirit right through until Christmas Day.

New Year's Eve Extravaganza
Join us for a 7-course tasting menu that is guaranteed to knock your socks off as we kiss goodbye to 2023 and welcome 2024.
Executive chef, Adrian Gagea and head chef Greg Robinson have put their genius culinary heads together. They've worked with some of the best Peak District suppliers to deliver a menu for New Year that promises to be breathtaking.
4-piece band, Electric Jukebox will keep you dancing all night with their huge repertoire of everything from the 50s to the modern day. Expect The Killers, The Beatles, Green Day, Queen, Chic, Ed Sheeran and even Avicii. There's something for every musical taste.
