Uh Oh… Snow
At 8:28am this morning, Young Apprentice of the Year and Longbow superstar, Leah Bancroft, sent this message in our WhatsUpp team app.
On looking out my house I realised it hadn't just snowed, it had blanketed the Peak District.
Now, I have a 4×4 vehicle, which I jumped into straight away to head to The Maynard.
The roads are treacherous.
I don't say that lightly.
I'm not sure if gritters have been out or not but the route all the way to The Maynard was hairy scary to say the least.
As such, we have taken the sad but unavoidable decision to cancel today's Christmas Markets at The Maynard.
A Plea From Us About Peak District Suppliers
It absolutely guts me to have to cancel but for the safety of the people coming along today, the suppliers bringing their wares and the staff who are struggling to get in, we’ve had no choice. It’s time to stay safe.
Hopefully, it will warm up and thaw enough for Sunday Lunch to commence as normal.
In the meantime, in the absence of walking around the stalls, mulled wine in hand, I have a plea for you to continue to shop local.
At The Maynard, we made a commitment to always use local suppliers and to remain part of the local economy and community.
If you were due to come to The Christmas Market today, please consider taking a look at the suppliers using the links below and purchase your Christmas gifts from these hard-working local people.
