OLD FAVOURITES WITH A NEW TWIST
Don’t fret! There are a couple of signature dishes that won’t change with the new menu. You can still enjoy the twice-baked Hartington dairy cheese soufflé starter, venison and chorizo ravioli and the Longbow signature burger made with the finest meat from New Close Farm in Over Haddon.
The Derbyshire trio of pies is back but with updated fillings of slow-cooked local venison & Guinness, pheasant, pancetta and blue cheese and Shepherd’s pie. All served with proper gravy and mashed potato.
A MENU FOR FISH LOVERS
In addition to our choice of steaks and mains that take inspiration from global cuisine, this summer menu is a must for fish lovers. Working closely with our friends and suppliers, RG Morris & Son Fishmongers in Buxton, we source sustainably caught fish that is delicate and delicious in flavour.
From this new summer menu, taste a little of the Mediterranean in the grilled sardine starter. Group Executive Chef, Adrian Gagea, always likes to put a Scotch egg starter dish on the menu and this summer, it’s a smoked salmon Scotch egg served with strong herby flavours of fennel, coriander and chive slaw with tarragon oil.
For those looking for something lighter, the sea trout salad served with wild rice, green beans and grilled broccoli salad, with saffron yoghurt dressing, is a healthy yet delicious choice and the pan-fried seabream served with bouillabaisse fish sauce, king prawn fishcake, sautéed sugar snaps and radishes is sure to be a hit.
For something perfect to eat outside in the sunshine, why not try the mussel mouclade with rustic bread and skinny fries?
For those who really love their fish, this summer sees the introduction of a fish sharer platter with smoked salmon scotch egg, cured salmon & tuna nori ballotine, grilled sardines, heritage tomato salsa, mouclade mussels, mixed salad and sourdough – perfect to enjoy outside in the sunshine with fizz or an Aperol Spritz. There’s also a Greek sharing platter with the most delicious lamb koftas made from lamb sourced locally by The Ginger Butchers in Bakewell, chicken souvlaki skewers, sautéed new potatoes, Greek salad, oregano feta, pitta bread and tzatziki.
GLUTEN-FREE and vegan
As ever, we work hard to make our menus inclusive and accessible to all. We have a wide variety of plant-based dishes on the new summer menu, such as the chive and broad bean arancini, herb emulsion and micro herbs. The vegan feta parcels served with rocket and pomegranate salad, mango and chilli dressing is a lovely light dish and the wild mushroom and oat burger is truly delicious – whether you’re plant-based or not!
For something warmer and more comforting, the Thai green arancini, served with coconut and coriander sauce, sweety drop peppers, bamboo shoots and stir-fried vegetables in soy sauce is a wonderful choice or the mixed bean tomato cassolette, spiced cauliflower and broccoli, served with quinoa salad is also a hit.
95% of our dishes can be adapted to be gluten-free, just look for the GFa symbol on the menu and speak to your server.
Don’t Skip Dessert
With dedicated pastry chefs and a real passion for delicious desserts, DO NOT skip the dessert menu at The Maynard. Even better, why not try the Maynard Gourmand which is a small selection of our desserts on one plates. Perfect to share, or perhaps not? One to indulge in for yourself for sure.
