Exploring Chile: A Land of Contrast and Character

(Part of the Exploring Wine Series at The Maynard)

Our Exploring Wine Series continues with a journey to one of the most exciting and dynamic wine-producing countries in the world, Chile.

Why Chile?

Chile’s wine story is one of geography, purity, and possibility. Stretched between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Chile benefits from a unique natural environment that gives its wines remarkable freshness, balance and clarity of flavour.

A Country of Diversity

Few wine countries can match Chile for diversity. Cooling ocean breezes, mountain influences, and varied soils create ideal conditions for a wide range of grape varieties and styles.

From crisp, aromatic whites grown close to the coast to richly textured reds from warmer inland valleys, Chile offers wines that are both expressive and approachable. Classic varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, and Carménère sit alongside exciting cool-climate styles that showcase precision, elegance and freshness.

Each wine tells a clear story of where it comes from pure fruit, vibrant acidity and a sense of place that feels honest and unforced.
